About the books

The books cover the mandatory units of the EAL Level 2 and Level 3 Diplomas in Engineering
Technologies. Each mandatory unit is covered in detail with activities, practice
exercises and examples where relevant.

Review questions are provided at the end of each chapter and a sample multiple-choice
examination paper is included at the end of each book. The books have been written in collaboration
with EAL to ensure that they cover exactly what learners need to know.

The author, Mike Tooley, has over 30 years' experience of teaching engineering, electronics
and avionics to engineers and technicians, previously as Head of the Department of Engineering
and Vice Principal at Brooklands College. Mike currently works as a consultant and freelance
technical author.

About the qualifications

The EAL qualifications in Engineering Technology can help support learners who wish to
progress into Higher Education, an apprenticeship or other employment. They provide blended
learning unique to EAL that suits many learners by combining theory with practical application.
The qualifications offer a much wider chice of assesment methods than are available with other
awarding organisations and they can be delivered as stand-alone qualifications or alongside
other qualifications such as A-levels. They are suitable for all ages from Key Stage 5
to full-time adult learners and they meet DfE requirements.
